Horizontal Drains

Horizontal drains are used to lower the groundwater levels in a hillside for the control and prevention of landslides.

We have been installing drains for hillside stabilization since 1999

The horizontal drains we have installed follow the following basic Cal Trans specifications:

  • Drill 3.25” hole diameter with water rotary drill rig
  • Install 1.5” Sch 80, PVC, flush-threaded pipe and screen
  • Seal at surface
  • Hookup to drainage system to transport water away from hillside
